Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
The preview shows the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
