The Renowned Musician Urges Public Help to Send Together for Palestine Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The campaign seeks to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it fails to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced in the wake of a solidarity show held in the autumn. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The notable list of performers contributing to Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the music world. All were part of the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of producers and composers. The single features a fusion of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The group managing the initiative have clarified that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a spokesperson commented. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The context in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of property reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily raising awareness for this issue and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The song is launching this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
