The renowned publisher has secured a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the forthcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Management Transition Follows Lukewarm Feedback

Brinkman assumes the role of studio head at the development studio following the dismissal of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's lackluster initial reveal last fall.

On Wednesday, the company's top executive David Ismailer notified team members about this strategic move through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had indicated the need for a more defined vision.

The president stated that the developers is now reimagining the project with a refreshed vision, aiming to better meet gamer demands.

A Pattern of Key Hires

This announcement follows a similar move taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they hired Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

I know you all just wrapped up your gathering - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Previously I sent you all a message, I expressed the following: “I am confident in this group. You all are some of the most dedicated and talented developers we have had the opportunity to partner with - and we’re eager for that relationship to persist.”

Given your hard work and adaptability, particularly over the past twelve months, you consistently demonstrate that.

The community feedback from last autumn’s Project ETHOS testing phase was informative. It confirmed the potential of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had improvements to make. It highlighted the need for a clearer vision.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve advanced. You accepted the feedback to heart and overhauled the title with a refreshed direction - one that’s positioned to fulfill its promise to our audience.

The belief in this project increases every day. To further the incredible development you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce the new hire as the incoming Director of the team. Following some time of discussions, he officially joins us on next week.

His guidance and expertise in the PVP shooter space is considerable, having dedicated the last 15 years developing and leading some of the most popular series in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, Apex Legends.

Brinkman presently holds the position of executive producer and head of production at the renowned studio for their flagship title. He earlier worked at major gaming companies in diverse development positions on the Call of Duty series, and, prior to that, had periods at other industry leaders.

Game Information and Concept

The upcoming game was revealed in October 2024 alongside a public demo. Then, 31st Union presented the title as a "free-to-play, third-person perspective roguelike hero shooter and an innovative evolution on the style."
