Followers Demand Detainment of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the actress are calling for that a man who breached a fence and seized the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared clip shows the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors made its way down a event pathway surrounded by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being taken in", though official papers revealed that he was scheduled to be present on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed features clips of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last year.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Fans Voice Worry Over Grande's Past Trauma
Many fans blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said a further comment on Instagram.
Some supporters also criticised guards at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while some requested online networks to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande seemed startled when she was approached by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of fans had congregated in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The film, to be premiered on November 21, is the follow-up of a dual adaptation of the well-known stage show Wicked, which centers on the unexpected bond between two very different sorceresses.
The production itself is a derivative of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and received ten Oscar nominations, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and production design.
